More than twenty local
residents and interested persons met in the Government Center cafeteria
for a monthly meeting of the Park
Advocates, a group dedicated to improving Fall River's parks and
open spaces. Mass In Motion Coordinator Julianne Kelly reviewed some of
the research she has been doing on potential bicycle routes in the city.
Park Advocacy Coordinator Sandy Dennis talked about the new Adopt-A-Park
plan approved by the Board of Park Commissioners. Discussion then
centered on the possible use of the former CSX rail lines in the City's
South End for a bicycle/walking path, though it appears that the rail
line will continue to be used for infrequent rail deliveries. Members
were urged to attend the upcoming Open Space Plan hearing on June 24th.
